It will typically take 30 to 60 minutes to repair your windscreen after the damage has been assessed, depending on the damage. The process usually involves cleaning the crack thoroughly, filling it and curing it using a UV light.

What size chip on a windscreen can be repaired?

Often times, and much to people's surprise a tiny rock chip will require a full windshield replacement. If you do not have the chip repaired, over time the chip can become larger and deeper.
Signs a Windshield Can Be Repaired or Should Be Replaced
The crack is shorter than 12 inches or the chip or bullseye is smaller than 1 inch. The crack is longer than 14 inches or the chip or bullseye is larger than 3 inches. Only the outer layer of the glass is damaged. The inner layer of glass has also been broken.
If you notice even a small crack or chip in the windscreen of your vehicle, don't ignore it. It is quicker – and cheaper – to get small damage repaired than a fully cracked windscreen, which will usually need to be completely replaced. Best practice is to repair the chip or crack as swiftly as possible.

- Keep the area inside and out of the car clear.
- Don't remove the retention tape.
- Avoid car washes and power washers.
Most companies will have a standard drive-away time that is anywhere from 30 to 75 minutes. But some windshield replacements can take up to 24 hours to dry.
The adhesive used to fix the windscreen in place and create a watertight seal takes 24 to 48 hours to properly set and dry. Thankfully though you can still use your car during this time, but you will need to wait at least an hour after the windscreen has been installed before you can drive for the first time.
